How to Deal With Dental Emergencies
Toothache
If you are experiencing a toothache, rinse your mouth with warm water and floss to remove any food or debris that may be causing the pain. If the pain persists, take ibuprofen or another over-the-counter pain reliever. You can also apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to help reduce the swelling. If the pain is severe, please contact our office or proceed to a medical facility.
Chipped or Cracked Tooth
If you have chipped or cracked a tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek. If you are bleeding, apply gauze to the area and bite down to help stop the bleeding. Please contact our office as soon as possible to determine the best course of treatment.
Dental Abscess
A dental abscess is a pocket of pus that forms around the root of a tooth. You may experience pain, swelling, and/or fever. Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of your face to help reduce the swelling. DO NOT attempt to drain the abscess yourself, as this could cause further damage. Contact our office as soon as possible so that we can provide you with the appropriate treatment.
Lost or Knocked Out Tooth
If you have lost a tooth or it has been knocked out, please contact our office immediately. Rinse the tooth with warm water and reinsert it into the socket. If this is not possible, place the tooth in a cup of milk or water. Do NOT attempt to store it in your mouth. Please contact our office for further instructions.
Lost or Knocked Out Dental Crown
If your full or partial crown becomes loose and falls out, it is important to see a dentist right away. Keep the dental crown in a safe place and bring it with you to the appointment. If the dental crown is still in good condition, it may be possible to reattach it. If it is broken or lost, a new one will need to be made.

We do not offer after-hours appointments; however, we are open evenings and weekends. We offer same-day emergency dentist appointments within our regular business hours. We do our best to answer emails after hours and book you an appointment to see one of our dentists as quickly as possible.
